CBMAI performs microorganism characterization and identification services (bacteria, filamentous fungi, and yeasts) based on the integration of molecular taxonomy data (DNA sequencing, genetic distance analysis, and fingerprinting techniques) and conventional taxonomy data (morphological characteristics). Culture-independent methods are utilized for the characterization of microbial diversity through large-scale sequencing.
Taxonomic characterization and/or identification can only be carried out after a Service Contract is signed. To do so, the client must send an email to cbmai@cpqba.unicamp.br or to the collection curator, Dr. Derlene Attili de Angelis (derlene@cpqba.unicamp.br). The email must include the request for the specific service of interest, the name of the affiliated Institution/Company, and a contact phone number.
After the signed document is received, we will be able to receive the culture(s) for the performance of the service.
Cultures may be sent by mail in disposable plates or Falcon-type tubes, provided they are well-wrapped in bubble wrap and triple-layered packaging.
